Client
Ten years. 244 desks. Still the natural choice.
A global asset management firm, founded in 2001 and headquartered in Chicago, has worked with DAS Business Furniture since 2015. When a major office upgrade brought their London team to the table, alongside long-term project partner Après and fit-out contractor Thirdway, they reviewed the full furniture specification. Après guided the client through a series of showroom visits to explore the market. When it came to workstations, the choice was clear: they stayed with DAS. That confidence is built on a decade of consistent delivery, ongoing support, and products that evolve with the demands of the business. The result is 244 DATUM Light-Trader height-adjustable desks across three floors of their St James office delivered in two phases, on time and to budget, building on the OPTIMA o8 installation DAS completed a decade before.

About the project
Phase 1: 94 DATUM Light-Trader desks - 1st floor (2023) Phase 2: 150 DATUM Light-Trader desks - ground and lower ground floors (2025)
DATUM Light-Trader The Evolution of a Ten-Year Installation
The DATUM Light-Trader is DAS's height-adjustable desk platform for modern trading and investment workplaces engineered to centralise technology cleanly beneath the worksurface and support multi-screen configurations without the footprint of legacy enclosures. Here, it replaces the OPTIMA o8 desks DAS installed in 2015, responding directly to how the client's technology and working practices had evolved: thin clients replacing tower CPUs, three-screen setups becoming standard, and legroom becoming a priority. The work surface profile and finishes remain consistent with the origina a deliberate choice to maintain visual continuity across a decade of change.
Under-Worksurface Technology Shelf
A shelf mounted beneath the worksurface to house thin client devices a direct response to the simplified hardware replacing the OPTIMA o8's integrated enclosures with doors and mobile CPU trolleys. Less infrastructure above and below the desk: more legroom, cleaner surfaces, less maintenance overhead.
Ergonomic Height Adjustment System
Full sit-stand height adjustment across all 244 positions, supporting ergonomic working for the full user population on ground, lower ground, and first floors.
DAS Management Rail
A continuous Management Rail supporting monitor arms across the client's standard three-screen configuration. Technology positioned precisely where it needs to be without consuming worksurface depth or compromising the desk footprint.
Ergo Edge and Pull Grip
Work surfaces specified with the same curved profile and full polyurethane edging as the OPTIMA o8 desks they replace maintaining ergonomic familiarity and visual continuity across the upgrade. Matching finishes across both phases ensure coherence throughout all three floors, with no visible break between the 2023 and 2025 installations.
