LEGAL & POLICIES
Life Cycle
At DAS it has always been, and remains, a key aim to reduce the environmental impact by creating products that have a very long-life cycle.
Design
DAS ranges of furniture are designed and manufactured using precision components ‘designed for disassembly’ so that at the end of the product’s life cycle it can be separated into different component constituents/materials for recycling.
Material Choice Selection
DAS products realise maximum functionality while achieving the minimum use of material through innovative design and effective engineering. The main structure of our desk is made from steel which has pre-consumer recycled content and is recyclable. All timber used in our products is obtained from suppliers who are accredited by FFC or PEFC and the small amount of plastic used in our desks can be recycled through a take back scheme.
Volatile Organic Compounds
During the course of normal production methods DAS and its’ supply chain partners use no VOCs. DAS products have been tested and certified in compliance with latest ANSI/BIFMA requirements by Eurofins test laboratories.
Carbon Net Zero
We have been carbon verified for the fourth year and have successfully calculated our carbon footprint. We aim to reduce our emissions by working towards the recommendation made in the report and accredited offsets.
Waste Management/Disposal
A most effective contribution to the environment can be achieved by eliminating waste. During manufacturing processes stringent measures are taken to ensure the environmental management of all waste materials. Every effort is made to ensure that waste material is recycled, and production waste is contained centrally and periodically removed by a Registered Carrier of Controlled Waste for appropriate disposal.
Energy Consumption
DAS continually works towards reducing its energy consumption. All offices, warehousing and factories are housed in recently built buildings providing high standards of insulation, economic heating, lighting and energy distribution. All office and production equipment is replaced using a strict program to ensure minimal energy waste and 100% of our electricity is from renewable energy sources.
Environmental Conservation
The standards applied by DAS regarding material content and supply chain sourcing ensures that our customers are able to meet their key environmental targets and related criteria, including those set out in LEED and BREAM.
Environmental Accreditation
DAS is certified to ISO 14001:2015 (Cert. No. 199448), with most of our key supply chain partners holding the same or higher accreditation. We are also FISP certified - the UK benchmark for sustainable furniture practices have gained an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for our OPTIMA trading desk along with Bronze certification from Ecovadis.
The initiatives that emerge from DAS’ policy of continuous improvement ensure that neither employees, nor employees of sub-contractors, nor those who live and work in close proximity to DAS’ premises, will suffer damaging effects from the Company’s operations.
We take the utmost care of our environment while working at the same time to provide the ideal environment for our customers now and in the future.
